Arundel & South Downs: Shweta Kapadia

For a future that is open, tolerant and united

A qualified Architect, Shweta has been a leading Councillor on Elmbridge Borough Council in east Surrey since 2000. She has chaired a Planning Committee for many years and worked on all aspects of Council Planning Policy. She is the Council's Historic Environment and Design Champion since 2006 and was for many years a Council nominated Director of a Housing Trust.

Shweta has a strong interest in the Arts and was a Member of Arts Council England, South East for a number of years. She has campaigned in her Borough to save post offices, for better public transport and road safety measures around local schools as well as for fairer school admissions criteria.If elected, she would continue to do what she has always done for her constituents: campaign to protect the interests of local people, fight to protect and enhance the environment in which they live, and for Policies which deliver adequate affordable housing and ensure sustainable development.

Shweta promises to protect the Green Belt including the South Downs National Park. She will engage with service providers and stakeholders in order to reflect the needs and views of the residents of Arundel and South Downs.
